This revision of the Child Protective Services Handbook was published on April 1, 2016.
CPS wants to ensure that the general public understands what critical actions caseworkers are required to perform and why. To further this understanding, CPS has set up a policy e-mail box for the general public: CPSPolicyQuestions@dfps.state.tx.us. Please feel free to contact us, via this email address, with any general questions related to policy.
For questions or concerns regarding specific cases, please contact the caseworker or supervisor, or the Office of Consumer Affairs at 1-800-720-7777.

In my opinion, unless there is a valid reason not to include the parents, whenever a child or children are removed from the home for anything other than imminent danger so that reunification is the ultimate goal, the parent or parents should be the ones included and over decisions concerning the child or children’s educational placements, especially in the case of when a child has been homeschooled. The reason is because the parent or parents, as teachers of said child, knows more about the child’s placement and capabilities and what works best in providing for the child’s educational goals.
I also believe that such things as vaccinations, and/or early education such as pre-school or Kindergarten, should be left to the parent(s) to decide, unless mitigating circumstances (extreme) indicate they are not capable of making said decisions – and the same should hold true for any and all medical treatments for said child/ren.
Has the education component changed? CPS told me they have no authority over education.
Also…they said it was completely normal and ok for a 7 year old to shower with her 17 year old half brother…naked while he washes her all over, sometimes without a washcloth, in a small shower the size of a smalll evevator.
They also said it’s ok for the dad to “tickle” the little girl on her upper inner thigh.
Can anyone please direct me to where I can prove them wrong on these? The penal code is “grey” in these areas…but these CANNOT be “ok”
About 6 months later, the little girl appeared pregnant, but still remains with dad, and brother, and no contact allowed with mom to get her to a dr.
She’s been removed from school and in a remote location on a ranch.
Help please
